Derek Uzzell
Terry This is an earlier posting that might help: http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=15331&posts=9 Assuming that your Ravenna has a diaphragm-type water pump, this should be able to self-prime and lift water easily from your (external?) water tank and rapidly provide water to the cold taps. The fact that you can hear the pump running, but no water is emerging from the taps suggests that either the pump can't pick up water from the tank or it can't pump it on to the taps. In the first case, there may be a blockage in the pick-up hose, or an air leak between the water tank pick-up and the pump. In the second case, there may be a blockage between the pump and the taps, or a major water leakage between the pump and taps, or (perhaps less likely) an air lock 'downstream' of the pump. As it's been extremely cold recently, it's possible that the pump itself (or its filter housing), or the water hoses, have become frost damaged despite you having carefully drained down the system. Another possibility: if the pump is original it may have just developed an age-related mechanical fault like a split diaphragm. I think your first step is to check the pump visually to see if you can detect what it's doing. However, I suspect that this may not be a simple exercise if Auto-Sleepers have installed the pump inaccessibly.
Blodwen
We had the same problem-- we had loads of useless replies but really what you have GOT to do is to remove the pump (it is in a very difficult position & you have to be a contortionist ) & wash it in washing up liquid in warm water&with a tooth brush--- when you remove the bits group them together in little pots for ease of identification ! --- you will be surprised at the gunge that is in it !!!!Put it together again & you will find it WILL work. By the way after that exercise we didnt drink the water from tank again !!
terryterry
Hi Derek, thanks for help, managed to resolve problem, air blockage between pump and tank. Removed pump poured water into inlet side of pump then switched on untill water ran from outlet side, reconnected pump and hey presto water now pumping through taps. What a nightmare accessing pump!!!
