Mike P
I'm giving Maryport Blues Festival a miss this year and fancied the Sunderland Airshow for a change. Does anyone have recomendations for sites within reasonable distance? I gather there will be a park & ride service from the outskirts of the town. Thanks in advance Mike P
Blizzard
Mike, Depending on what type of site you're after, there is the excellent CC "Grange" Site just outside of Durham City, an easy run up the A1 from the A66 for you and which is very handy for the A690 in to Sunderland. The site is approx. 12 miles from the airshow and either of those roads provide straightforward runs in to Sunderland. I can give you directions in to one of the outlying 'Park and Rides', as trying to get any closer to the coast is usually utter mayhem, unless as I've seen in the past - MH'ers turning up during the week and staying in the free parking on the side of the A183 'coast road' at Seaburn, with the accompanying superb views, but busy traffic. There is at least 1 CL (Baxter Wood or similar name) that I'm aware of on the west side of Durham and a couple of private sites north of Sunderland at Marsden and South Shields. PM me if you would like more detailed info :-D
Syd
Durham CC organise a meeting at a site on the coast road to South Shields for that date and "posibly" one close to the Amusement Arcade on Sunderland sea front, finf them in Out and About.
