Klyne
Some of you may have seen this already but the Caravan Club are conducting a survey of members views of the current site booking operation. Members need to log on to the Caravan Club website and the survey is in the Club-Matters section. Its quite a comprehensive survey and an ideal opportunity for members to voice their views. Ocsid
Good and thanks for bringing it to our attention, before the Mag arrived. That they are actually asking is a great step forward, and hopefully they will "listen". I suppose the "trouble" is a matter of supply not meeting demand but the current system has really "P" us off to the extent after 30 years of membership we only did three CC main site nights in 2009. There is just not enough week-end capacity, and this screws up mid-week occupancy and so potential resource utilisation. Its now all but impossible on some sites to do a mid week visit "bridging" a weekend, without knowing nearly a year in advance . So gone is mid-week travelling and a stay long enough to justify the fuel and meet our "Green conscience" in the environmental impact of what we do. We are retired an can take those mid-week slots but the system inhibits us doing this unless its the briefest of visits, which in turn means it can only be local. If they simply limited members to pre booking only 4 week-ends at a particular site up to say 28 days before any additional visit could be booked, that ought to be fair and equitable to all. It would stop the "pigging" of all week-ends by the few. Thank goodness we like CLs
mike.green
Hi, One of the problems I have found with an otherwise good club, is when trying to book on-line they tell you the site is fully booked on the dates you want, but if you phone the site direct, they can invariably fit you in, which begs the question ,Why run an on-line booking site in the first place? Dave225
Just out of interest, was there any results, comclusions changes actually made from the Survey? Or did the CC do their usual. 'All fine on the Western Front'? There have been numerous compalints aboutt he booking service but I suspect the CC is only bothered if the sites are NOT full

Were not! we have managed 2 sites in the last two years ;-) waste of money or what??
Dave225
Sounds about normal. The CC likes to think it is a 'club' but actually is a business organsiation that does its own thing whatever. Of course having the largest number of sites etc makes them difficult to avoid., although I do try. Sounds screwy as I have been a member for 40 years but I do use some of their bits and bobs. I just do not like some of their wardens who seem to think they are doing me a favour by allowing me to actually pitch in their field. Fortunately there are some wonderfully nice ones out there who make it worth while.
