carolh
not much going on here in grantham, its cold and damp, snowed a bit earlier! Had the mot done on the van - passed, new vehicle battery too, the cold weather in December killed the other one, but it had been on the vehicle since new. Got an iphone on Monday, nice bit of kit. and got our starting date for scrubbing in the sun, 5th may! Went to the dentist and hygienist, and that's about it for today, oh yes took the van for a spin up to Brownhills in Newark and picked up some curtain runners we had on order, now sitting watching NCIS. carol
Mel B
Hello chums Can't wait to get out on our 'new to us' scooters ... weather permitting of course, snow might stop play unfortunately. :-( Chris has disappeared so I suspect he's lurking in the garage giving them a polish ... :-S Romy's bashed one of her dew claws again - 3rd time now, 2nd time on same leg!!! Might have to consider having them removed .... doesn't seem to bother her but it don't half bleed and she's an expert at getting the bandages off. I like NCIS too ... anyone remember Mark Harmon when he was in St Eligious? Dishy or what .... :$ Carol - you decided if you're going to the NEC show? Hymer C 9.
Michele, you will have a brilliant time so much to do there if its just walking up Corso and people watching, the street with stalls running down from the Trevi Fountain and just past Mcdonalds on Corso if you cross over the crossing there and walk down to the square there is a brilliant little restaurant Solloto 44 (I think) but near enough the food is excellent a buffet eat as much as you like reasonable but excellent it looks quite posh from outside but give it a go it so gooood. :-D Carol h, so good to here off you are you in Spain or France this year. Mel which Carol me I'm not going to NEC this year probably first time in 5 years we have not been but not so keen now CC is running it and not CCC. have fun on those Scooters, can you get then both on the back of the van. Carol. :-)

We will be in France, down on the med again, in Argeles sur mer, but at a different campsite, Le Dauphin. and eurocamp couriers this time and not keycamp, don't think the lime green tee shirts will do anything for my complexion LOL and its me mel was asking about the nec. Colin9591
Not a lot to tell really. Had a dental appt. this am. which coincided with a need to take the wagon over to Penrith to have the drivers seat base recall thingee checked out. So, killed two birds with one stone and went to the fasteners shop and bought some Dowty washers, so make that three birds. Interestingly, I found great joy in taking the wagon (Nellie) out for a spin, singing to myself (no-one else would listen) whilst cruising the good old route 66 (A66). It was the first time since early November that I'd taken her out. I know that she should be exercised more regularly but surgery on a leg in November and then the freeze (my drive leads onto a 1 in 5 ungritted cul-de-sac) caused the delay. Came back to find snow all over the place but not too serious yet. Cooked dinner, washed up and here I am. Cheers
howie
Going well Carol and busy the last few weeks painting and decorating. Usually a springtime job, but with all this bad weather lately, and stuck indoors for most of it, kept myself occuppied by doing all the downstairs, and just the top of the stairway to finish off. Hard going, but done all the upstairs last year, so all set now for the spring gardening and getting out in the van again. No long tours this year, just a few of the shows and weekends relaxing at a few of our favourite sites. Might try the Northen Ireland coastline though as this will complete all of the British and Irish coastlines, but rarely plan in advance and will see how things go. CliveH
Also doing the decorating in spare moments. Have two bedrooms that need to be done preferably before the end of Feb. Our problem is having one son who has moved out but has left a great deal of “stuff” behind in his room which he seems unwilling to spend anytime sorting out. Boxes of “Fast Car” magazine from 2006 spring to mind but as a couple of them have articles featuring my son he wants to keep those. Beginning to have a sense of humour failure so he assures me when he pops in this w/e he will sort them out. It is not helped by my younger son – also a car nut – who slipped a few car spares into his brothers old room when we were not looking. It is more than a bit galling to find an “uprated Nova anti-role bar assembly” where it clearly should not be. (I now know what it is because I asked ‘what the >>>> is this???’ when I stubbed my toe on it because it was left just sticking out from under the bed so you could not easily see it but enough to cause maximum pain and suffering when coming into unexpected contact with it) So a second sense of humour failure last weekend. We want to get it all done by end of Feb as we have our c’van on a seasonal pitch and cannot use it Jan & Feb each year so March onwards is when we escape most weekends. So nice to use Jan & Feb for decorating etc. Went down for “the visit” – we can go down on the last Sunday in Jan to check the cvan – make sure it is OK and pleased to say it was – no problems at all – but the green algae on it is worse this year than it has ever been. I think this was because of the atrocious weather stopping me from giving it a good polish at the end of last season. But to be fair – all owners were saying the same – so maybe it is a general problem this winter. So look forward to giving it a damn good shampoo and polish. Is there anything nicer than standing back and looking at a gleaming cvan? Role on March.
J9withdogs
'Shirley' sailed through her MOT last week, so along with the bargain deal on her insurance (£85, fully comp!) I'm looking forward to a cheaper year motorhoming. Just got to wait for the fuel prices to get back to a sensible level. Am planning on going to some folk music festivals this year, so am not involved in organising our own music festival. A welcome year off! Looking forward to the rugby starting on Saturday so not going anywhere for the next few weeks. (lol) New man in my life is keeping me busy, too. I've got a scary Sunday coming up - I've got to cook a vegetarian lunch for his Catholic priest! As long as they don't start talking about religion..... :D

maggyd
Good idea starting a new thread Carol :-D Ive missed the natter on the old one. In the last week or so we have booked the tunnel for 16th June, two nights at Rowntree Park for middle of April, and three at Old Hartley Whitley bay for second week of May. Berti has cured me of wanting to go away in the Winter months :-D Ive enjoyed his diary/blog! Ive had a good laugh most of the time but felt sorry for him and O.H. as well. Im only thinking I MIGHT decorate the second bedroom/study O.H. has his computer in there and the thought of taking all his photo,s bumf etc; off the walls, moving all the books computer etc; is putting me off. We had to put a new shower cubicle and shower in before Christmas, and that was a job and a half just removing the old one, our Son helped pull it out and put the wall board and new cubicle in or we would have come unstuck !! O.H. isnt as fit as he once was! but try telling him that :-|I wish for once he would call a tradesman in and that would give me a break. Cant help with the Veggie recipe Jan ! I wish I could !!maybe a nut cutlet with veg; would surfice, Id be a vegetarian myself if I new what we would eat!! Enjoy your trip away Carol :-D were just taking the Van out for the first time in about two months next week for a run into Whitby, O.H. just keeps turning the engine over and moving it backward and forwards to turn the wheels. We get snowed in here our road is the last one in the area I think to clear! I just dont want to see anymore thank you very much! we have had more this year than I can ever remember, certainly since we moved in here 10 years ago. People are very fond of eating Rabbit in France arent they?? :-S one of my Sons has a place in Fontenaires and his neighbour round the back has cages of rabbits that my grand-daughter thought were pets!! and were very upset one morning to see they had all dissapeared 8-) they thought they had all escaped! he didnt dare enlighten them. donna miller
Hi Janine, have you tried the Quorn range, I am sure they do quite a good selection now, some of the bigger chains also do pre made tofu recipes and other veggie products. You are braver than me, I can understand why veggies wont eat meat, but why do they insist on being given meals that have got meat substitutes included, like nut cutlets, shaped like lamp chops. *-)
michele
:D :D :D Nut cutlets shaped like Lamb Chops hahaha and sausage shaped like sausages ...yeah these veggies are mad ..only joking but its strange bizzare in fact .give em a nice suumer fruit pudding for afters .
