EHIC/travel insurance - yes or no??

:'(As a Resident here in Spain and more importantly in the Valencia region there has been a big problem with expats receiving health care. So much so that even if you are in a critical situation and needing an ambulance a recent report in our local news paper highlighted that an Ambulance wasn't sent out as a health card number couldn't be produced. My advice to anyone thinking of heading this way for the sun is NEVER leave without your EHIC card and have it on you at ALL times. Travel Insurance is always better if your a long way from home especially if you want to do battle with the Spanish drivers >:-).
