The Christie Hospital

I went up to the Christie hospital this morning for a consultation, the care and attention they give you is superb, couldn't be better even if you were royalty, it takes me about an hour and a half to get there but will be worth it in the long run.

Only down side this morning was a fatal RTA that we had to shuffle past at the Edge lane and Chester road traffic lights, the car in question must have rolled, the car was sheeted up and there was blood everywhere.

According to what the specialist said this morning there is something unique within my body and that they have been trying for a long time to get me to agree to some clinical trials to find out more.

I have now agreed to go along with them and the trials will start next friday, there will be no waiting in queues, as soon as I walk in the hospital I will be dealt with straight away, am pretty curious as to what is what?

Well worth taking part in any trials Malcolm and something I did some years ago after a major operation. Took almost three years to complete with diets, samples and drug trials etc. and included a lot of form filling, but not only was I helping, however small the contribution, to medical knowledge, but also found myself 'fast tracked' whenever further treatment was required with no need to contact my Doctor as one call to the Nursing College ensured that treatment was quickly arranged and hassle free.

howie,

That is exactly right, what was bothering me was that it might effect my work schedule, but to hell with the work.

I'm looking forward to next week, over the last 3 years I have been amazed at the care and attention that I have been given, it must have cost thousands of pounds all the more amazing is that they have spent all that time and money on a jerk like me.

Went up to the Christie hospital this morning to set the wheels in motion for the clinical trials, gave a blood sample and then they weighed me.

Had a long discussion with Dr Choudray who explained everything in detail, signed all the consent forms.

Just waiting now for a date for all the scans which will probably be next week, they also pay you expences and all your carpark fee's.

Sussed out all the smart restaurants and cosy lounges where you can chill out with a drink and a paper and even have a doze.

Also donated my body to the NHS for medical research and organ donation so all in all a pretty satisfying day.
