silverbike
Last year we found nowhere that near to Istanbul. We stayed at Kilyos on the Black Sea. Travelling in by public transport was complicated and took a couple of hours. We met a Dutch tour group who had stayed at a site about an hour or more west of Istanbul but didn't get the details. The ones in town are now apparently closed for redevelopment (not as campsites!)
Charles Chodkowski
We will be travelling "on spec" and finding sites on way. All I have at the moment is a folding road map oy Turkey with campsites marked but no details. I have also had some information of Don Madge which is very good and also looked at the Magbaztravels website. Hopefullyb all will go well! silverbike
Last year we also found the 'accomodation' sections of Rough Guide to Turkey useful for finding campsites. We travelled May/June and had no trouble getting in to sites. In areas where sites are few and far between restaurants and petrol stations will often let you park overnight. There was also a tourist camping map available at the border crossing but it wasn't easy to match the sites and the information.
