daj
the breather pipe from the sump to air intake has a heating element on it which had a fault which in turn caused a fuse to keep blowing which was also same fuse for speedo.has anyone else had this problem with fiat ducato as only done 12000miles
euroserv
I suspect that you are talking about a 2.8 Fiat from 2002 to 2006 and yes, we have seen this a lot. The first few times we were stumped because the fuse (17) kept blowing and this also knocks out the reversing lights and sometimes other devices in the cab including the speedometer. The good news is that you do not have to replace the heater which is about £130 at all. The heater is only called for in very cold climates and will almost never be activated but it is given a switched live supply so it is 'live' every time you switch the ignition on. All you have to do is unplug it and that will be the end of it. We usually wrap some tape around the end of the connector for good measure, but that is it. I did hear of someone who spent nearly a grand at a garage sorting this problem out because they tried to find alternate power supplies for all of the devices that were not working without looking for something obvious!
