Mr. Grumpy
Do you want to stay in the Lake District or are you just passing through on the way to Scotland? If the latter consider either the caravan site attached to the motorway service station at Junction 38 of the M6 or Pennine View Caravan site at Kirkby Stephen which is 12 miles off the M6 (j38) and much easier to access than the Lakes if you are only staying one or two nights. Peter Highe
Hi I can't imagine that you would want to go to the lake district when Scotland is so much better! Club sites are often booked up months ahead, but if you ring the site on the day before, just after 12.00, you can often get a pitch - this is because of the way their systems work. breakaleg
Hi Try Falbarrow park in Windemere, all hard standing, near to town and lake, quiet pub on site selling meals, all electric hook up, free wifi. not cheap, but well placed. Champstar
If you are member of C&CC why not look for rallies and THS where you can camp cheaply....then when in Scotland do the same or try wild camping esp if going up north.
naittaw
It depends whether you want to use Club Sites or try to find something cheaper and less regimented. C&CC have a site (Milarrochy Bay) on the banks of Loch Lomond (SE Corner) and almost adjacent Forest Holidays also have a site there. On the west (main road) side of the Loch CC have a lochside site at Luss. Bunree is a CC site on the loch close to Fort William (Onich). All these sites are up to Club standards and are beautifully situated. Loch Ness Caravan Park (private with helpful and friendly owners) is on the banks of Loch Ness at Invermoriston and is well kept and well situated. On Skye we have used the C&CC site at Loch Greshornish and the private site at Uig Bay. Both acceptable. Uig for short stay probably but within easy walking distance of shop and local pottery. Remember that July is a school holiday month in Scotland.
scotsbob
If you check the CCC mag in the DA sections, there is one in the Scottish section for a rally at Ingleston show park at the time the Festival is on, and there is a ceildh arranged for the Sat night. Own sanitation is required and NO EHUs.

mel wood
One other suggestion for a site on Skye is the one just to the north of Portree. It is avery pleasant site with good ambience , friendly and helpful staff and a 30 minute walk downhill to Portree. It is worth noting that bookings aren't taken. Payment is each morning for the previous night's stay. It is possible to keep a pitch for longer than one night by the usual method of 'marking' your pitch with something.
