Depends on your van - which you did not tell us - you may need to switch the charger on manually - depends on the van!

Welcome to the forum - the more info you give the more likely one of the brains trust is to have a specific answer for you!

How many nights were you camped - what AH capacity and age of battery (batteries?) - what make & model & age of van - what make & model of electrical control box and panel - will do for a start!

Most Motorhomes will have a mains power supply for charging the battery. When on hook up did you actually know you had mains power connected, e.g a warning light said so, or you were actually using for a 240 volt appliance. So 1st things 1st check your mains hook up is working, all switched on and power is getting into van.

Next, check you do actually have a charger, and if so does it have any indicator lights to say it is on, check fuses etc.

Your Duetto is on the MK5 Transit (the pre-smily version) and normally has an 85 A/H battery mounted under the bonnet controlled by a ZIG mains to 12-volt power unit.

The heater is a Carver gas only unit and there is no mains heating element in this device.

To answer your question, yes the leisure battery is charged all the time, provided that the ZIG unit is switched on. The unit is mounted low down and accessed via the door under the cooker. When switched on, a green lamp should be showing on the charger and on the instrument panel mounted above the sink unit. It is quite common for early ZIG units to fail and not charge; you need to use a meter to check that it is outputting correctly.
