just back from today Thailand 10 days late. Had a wonderful relaxing holiday but could have done without the hassle and delays. Thai airways insisted we fly from Phuket to Bangkok knowing full well we could not fly onward to heathrow.....they then closed the desks at the airport and abandoned us and 100's of others as well.

We stayed one night at airport hotel and a further 4 in the city then had enough as the troubles were getting nearer so had 4 more days on the beach at Pattaya. we had to pay for the extended portion ourselves.....

Our son is stranded in the Caribbean but as he flew with BA they have put his group up in a nice hotel all meals provided. Moral of this story? always book with a European carrier who have to abide by European law :-D

we are lucky to be home many are stuck until middle of may!

Hi Judge,

Sorry to hear about your delay, for what it is worth I wouldn't put too much faith in the benefits of flying with a European carrier.

I was booked to fly home from Spain on Xmas eve with Queasy Jet to play Father Christmas to my grand kids.

I arrived at the airport to find the flight cancelled, and had to pay another £420 to fly home with another airline, 4 months later I am still waiting for a response to my letters

I hope at least you got a great tan.

Regards, PKC.

So glad to hear you got back ok Judge. It must have felt like a nightmare after having a good holiday. My daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren finally arrived home this morning from Washington. They too were 11 days late and are being compensated by their carrier, B.A., - £100 for hotel and £25 food for her and £12.50 each for the children, for every day (11) they were delayed - took the sting out a bit.

She was amazed how people have responded - the car park at Heathrow did not charge for the extra days due to the delay and the cattery would not let her pay for ther extra time their 2 cats were forced to stay there. Renews your faith in some of mankind me thinks. :-D

I was surprised that purple parking did not charge for the extra 10 days valet parking. Mrs Mental thinks they are part of BAA and thats why. shame the same cannot be said of others..... hoteliers and airlines! *-)

it was hellish! lol here are some pictures :-D
