CliveH Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Man rescued off Isle of Sheppey after sailing blunder - BBC online News A lost sailor has had to be rescued after running out of fuel circling a small island when he thought he was sailing around the UK coast. The Sheerness lifeboat and the Thames Coastguard assisted the man who ran aground off the Elmley Marshes on the Isle of Sheppey on 19 April. With only a road map for directions, he set off on the river Medway, from Gillingham, and headed for Southampton. But the RNLI said the man had "ended up travelling round the Isle of Sheppey". A spokesman said: "This guy had run aground after running out of fuel. He was attempting to travel around the UK from Medway to Southampton and somehow lost his bearings and ended up travelling around the Isle of Sheppey. "He didn't have the usual maritime charts or navigation equipment." The man told the rescue team he had been keeping the coast to his right and had ended up sailing in circles around Sheppey. The motor cruiser was towed to Queenborough and officers gave him advice on fuel usage, a Thames Coastguard spokesman said. It is understood the man later attempted to continue his journey to Southampton. (lol) (lol) (lol) (lol) I will wander down to the Solent to make sure he made it! 8-) :-S (lol) (lol)
donna miller Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 The scary thing, is that people like him are allowed to breed, and cast votes to determine who runs the country.
CliveH Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 I think someone like him HAS been running the country of late. And when asked sensible questions by a switched on 65 year old lady from Yorkshire (like em - callaspadeaspade people) they refer to the questioner as a "bigot". That's done Gordon's chances a power of good I don't think.

Can we please agree to leave Rochdale in Lancashire where it will definitely feel more at home, ta http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/images/emoticons/icon_lol.gif
Guest Tracker Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 What's the best thing to ever come out of Rochdale? Why, the A58 of course!
CliveH Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 Sorry Bazz - no more war of the roses then? I am sure she was described on the Jeremy Vine show as being from Yorkshire.

That's done Gordon's chances a power of good I don't think. I don't think it will do him any lasting harm, in spite of the media trying to turn it into a disaster. At least most of the politicians ( and journalists ) that I have heard since yesterday have had the guts to say " There but for the grace of god ....." because they admit all do it. His mistake was agreeing to wear a mike. ;-)
nowtelse2do Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 malc d His mistake was agreeing to wear a mike. ;-) A bit unusual for Rochdale, it's normally a mac you wear :-D Dave

Must be as old as you then Battery boy :DYelloways stopped a few years back but as now been resurrected not as a regular service but a tour service. And they were a Rochdale firm. It use to have a service from Blackpool to London (Kings Cross I think) After it pick up in Manchester it followed the A6 calling off at quite a few cities on the way down, took about 12-13 hrs 8-)I think all the stars have all been pushed out by certain foreign folk.Dave
Guest Tracker Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Them's not foreign folk Dave - they'm the minority tribe of native Lancastrians that have been outnumbered by the, err, incoming foreigners!
