TonyHilary Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Hi, Having done the usual tours of Tattinger and Moet before, has anyone any recommendations for a small, perhaps family run, friendly champagne house in France. We are a bit partial to Demi Sec types!! By the way anyone near Carcassonne must visit Limoux area to sample the sparkling wines; it is the true origin of Champagne apparently! 1/2 the price but arguably nicer.

spospe Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 We have stayed at Epernay at the Camp Municipal d'Epernay and done the usual champagne tours of Moet & Chandon and Castellane (walkable from the site). However if you want a site with a cave / vinyard, try Camping Rural in Vandieres, which is part of the Nowack label. We bought some bubbly from them at the time of our visit (they do not bottle it there, but it is where they grow the grapes).
