wild rover Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Hi, hope you're all enjoying the nice weather. I have a quick query. A friend of ours has decided to buy one of those big American motorhomes. Iwas wondering if you can get such large vehicles into campsites here in the UK? Will they have problems? Pam

Pam They will have problems in UK and Europe. Mad things to buy outside USA.
Archiesgrandad Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 What a load of tosh. We had a Georgieboy Swinger, only had problems finding sites in Cote D'Azzur at the hieght of summer, everywhere else it was fine. If you fancy one go for it, but remember they supp quite a drop of fuel, and they are not for the faint hearted on the road, but they are so comfortable. AGD
olley Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Hi depends on the size, ours is 30', you will get more problems with a 40' but maybe 70%+ of sites will still be able to pitch you. We have only been turned away twice in 4 years. They will find prejudice from some other motorhomers, maybe jealousy? A common misconception is that all roads in the USA are ten lanes wide, or that most of the UK roads are only wide enough for a horse, both are obviously wrong. :-D HGV's, buses, milk lorries go almost everywhere in the UK, and if they can, an RV can. Stick an 18' 4xdrive plus a 14' caravan and your longer than me, so if I'am to big, so must you be. Olley
wild rover Posted May 2, 2010 Author Posted May 2, 2010 Thanks for all your replies. I was just curious, but I wish them well. I also wish that we could afford one!
