Usinmyknaus Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 blueeyes - 2010-05-03 10:03 PM Hi everyone after joining a couple of days ago just thought id pop in to say hello you seem a friendly bunch. would love to go traveling its always been a dream of ours once the children were grown up hopefully we will get there eventually, in the mean time i will enjoy reading of your adventures. ;-) Hold on to the dream Blueeyes. We had a caravan when the kids were very small and it was wonderful. But, they grew all too fast and soon deemed such holidays too "uncool" - so the caravan was sold at a loss and 14 years of eye-watering hotel bills followed. Three years ago, with the kids grown up (but still living at home) we took the plunge and bought our dream motorhome and we love it. The kids of course now complain whenever we don't go away - they want the house to themselves, provided of course, every food cupboard, fridge and freezer drawer has been stuffed full and their cars filled with petrol before we leave.............. Bob :-)
maggyd Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Hi there :-D most people on here probably started in a tent as we did over 40 years ago, we found with 4 children it was the only way we could have a holiday, we progressed through tents trailer tents to caravans and on to a motorhome for ease of setting up as age creeps up to us all. If you can put our money in an I.S.A while your thinking about it its amazing how it adds up! and you will soon get your dream ! hopefully, good luck.
blueeyes Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 hey up everyone thanx for all your replies. I think i might have given the impression that my children are little so i thought id better put you all in the picture .... Iv got 2 daughters and 2 sons and 2 grandsons. Our sons still live at home ones just turned 18yrs and the other will be 17 in june. we ve done the camping and enjoyed it but have always wanted a motorhome but due to unexpected circumstances beyond our control a few years ago our prioritys had to change but never say never. ;-)
robkilby Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Going a bit of topic, I know, but does motorhoming tend to run in peoples families or do you just take it up ? Wasn't in my family....but nor was camping / caravanning....we had a little shack thingy in North Wales when we ( three brothers ) were growing up
maggyd Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I'd never been camping in my life until I married :-D but his parents took them camping in the days when B.R.S. used to pick up the box full of equipment put it on the train and deliver to the farmers field, they used to take the train and find the box in the farmers barn ready to set up. Now that is camping (lol)
