I saw this on another forum where someone motorhoming in France used this free proxy server to view a you tube video

http://www.daveproxy.co.uk/

Now you clever guys and gals...could someone tell me if this would work to view the BBC news via BBC I player when in Europe??

plse plse say yes! :-D as I have no sat system and BBC via radio has virtually disappeared!

A bit selfish Eddie, knowing how slow site connections are. You would be hogging all the bandwidth what about the other poor sods trying to get in touch with their loved ones.

Like the new photo obviously the wife & daughters with you. *-) *-) *-)

B-) I have tried DaveProxy in Spain. No good. The ONLY Proxy servers that DO work are the ones you have to pay for. I have been using Onspeed for years, but it only works now with BBC & IPlayer. One that DOES work on ALL the channels is:-

https://www.identitycloaker.com

BUT, it has to be paid for. You could also try TVU Player. But it does NOT have BBC or Catchup and is of a lower stream quality. ;-)

Thanks John and Sandy!

Agh well..... These pay for proxy servers are a bit expensive for just a few weeks away, picking up the news occasionally....A little different if full timing :-D

back to the drawing board! *-)

www.my-private-network.co.uk is only five quid a month with no contract.

Works very well.

Thanks for giving information about VPN

From the past three months,I searched through Google for getting a good VPN service.

Through your post i found a VPN and got fake ip.

I checked my fake ip range using http://www.ip-details.com/

We used one called expat-telly was about £5 per month. It was a job to watch anything on BBC iplayer unless you had a good connection speed but when we did we just connected the netbook to TV with HDMI cable.

If its just news, radio 4 or 5 you can get over the internet without a proxy server and the speed doesn't have to be fast.

I managed to keep up with popmaster (radio 2) for six months-and I am still crap at it!! :-D

Tried a private VPN from Nord VPN but didn't fool the BBC internet police. Quite cheap for 3 months, no contract and recommended by Money saving expert.

However, I have found that it's possible to watch BBC1 and the UK freeview terrestrial channels using WWW.Filmon.tv as long as the wifi speed is above 50mbps.

Viewing tonight on Spanish campsite with 54mbps speed and used it to watch 6 Nations rugby last weekend.Good point is you can record up to 10 hours of programmes that are then held for 30 days on their server not your PC.
