Awning Flooring

Hi

We have at long last decided on which awning to buy and it should be with us Monday.

Now we are faced with which flooring to buy. They all seem quite expensive our awning size is 3.85m x 2.85m.

We have been to two stores this weekend (both of which were sold out of the nearest to the size we needed) and also went to the Motorhome Show in Bristol that had none. We are left with no alternative but to buy online (as we hope to use it next week)

Therefore we would really appreciate any recommendations or advice people can give us before we order.

Many thanks.

Have you tried caravan dealers, as opposed to motorhome dealers?  Awnings are almost essential on caravans, and most owners seem to buy some kind of flooring.

The kindest ones are the open weave, or mesh, type that allow the grass to breathe, so avoiding those big yellow patches.

Re size, many seem to come on a roll, so you just buy by the metre and trim to fit.

Ok Great Thanks.

Agree grass would be the best and certainly cheapest option, if it were just Me and Mr G then that would work for us. However we have a 2 year old and 1 year old (who is still crawling) and want to give us not only extra space, but as comfortable an extra space whatever the good ole English Climate.

take a look at the interlocking rubber tiles.

http://www.towsure.com/product/15243-Easylock_Flooring_Tiles

Benefits are

they are lighter than normal awning carpet ,

they can be laid out in whatever pattern you need

you can easily change damaged tiles rather than the whole carpet.

they are easy to manage in terms of luggin them around when laying or taking up.

finally they are fairly thick so little one wont get hurt if they fall over especially if on hard standings.

We changed to these last year and whilst they aren't easy to store because of their size they are very good , that said they aren't that much more difficult to store than a traditional awning carpet to be honest.

Good tip , go to IKEA and get one of their blue bags , its just the right size to keep all the tiles in we need , its reasonably water proof in that it keeps most the crud and mud from messing up the MH store area.
