art338
Following a forum question on the “No spaces for M/H parking in Crawley Sussex”. I wrote to the C/E at the Town Hall outlining the problem and suggested that if a Park & Ride area was established this could be one way of allowing larger vehicles to visit the town centre. Their reply was briefly, that there is no facility (we know) and that the nearest large vehicle park is at Pease Pottage for Heavy Goods Vehicles and motor homes, (This is a Motorway service area adjacent to the M23 where there is also a M&S shop. Pease Pottage to Crawley is a 3 mile walk or cycle ride with no cycle path). Part of the official reply is as follows Town Hall The Boulevard Crawley West Sussex RH10 1UZ Quote “With regard to your suggestion of a Park and Ride scheme this is currently being investigated by the planning department and there is not an implementation date available at the present time” Graham Marriott Assistant Manager Technical Services End of official reply: There is a problem with the untidy traveller in this area that would tend to restrict large vehicle access close to the town centre. tonyishuk
Use Horsham Park and Ride !! If Crawley does not want your buisness, I am sure Horsham will. If you REALLY need to get to Crawley, you can catch a train from Horsham An added bonus is that leaving your m/home at Horsham willl probably mean that you will still have four wheels when you return. lennyhb
There is a 2 hour parking limit might get 10 minutes in Crawley if you are lucky. Once you are the other side of the motorway and on the A23 there is a cycle path that runs beside the road.
