peeair
We;ve down to La Palmyre and Royan quite a few times now but always in late September when it's quiet, we're planning to go early July this time has anyone been there at this time of year and is it really busy? Randonneur
Being perfectly honest, yes, very busy. We only tend to go in July/August to go to the Zoo for the day when the Grandson comes down. It is very difficult to get parked up even with a car.
peeair
Thanks for the quick reply Randonneur, thought it might be, maybe we'll leave it until September when it's quieter, only got a week in July might just stick to Brittany, envious of your location love that part of France. Thanks again.

Nice Aire in the Avenue de Atlantique, just outside town. We stayed there a few nights. Olley
MandyAndy
We stayed around that area last year during July and only had problems around the actual town, depends how close you want to be. It was heaving with cars parked. Went to Pointe de Gironde (not correct spelling) , also make sure you go to St Georges beach and get there before lunch, you can park with van right on edge of a beautiful beach for the day, think it was free as far as I remember. Tony Jones
There's a car ferry over to Le Verdon, and we stayed on the excellent beach-side Aire there for about a week in August 08, it wasn't nearly as busy as Royan itself. So a visit to Royan to see what you want to see, then over the river for a few days peace and quiet might be one way forward? Wandering now ... your mention of La Palmyre brings back memories - our first-ever motorhome trip abroad, in 1989. We had a VW T2 and 2 small kids (plus teenage babysitter in a tent). We used Eurocamp Independent to be on the safe side, because we had no idea what problems we might encounter ... but most of them were to do with the old van!
