oil filter 2.2 boxer new model

how do you change the oil filter on a new style 2.2 boxer, it look like it fits into a removable chamber. There is a black plastic chamber in front of the sump but not sure if that is it - any advice ?

It's a replaceable element rather than a spin-on canister and, yes, you seem to have found it correctly.

 

The black plastic bottom half unscrews using a large socket - can't remember the size but something like 28mm - clean, pop in the new filter, change the supplied seal on the housing joint and replace. Don't over-tighten - I think there's a torque figure on the housing 'nut' itself.

 

You can use a Ford filter if you like as they're cheaper: part no. 1373069
