betsy
We (three couples) are thinking about doing the Romantica Strasse in Germany in mid September and also then continuing on to Prague. Checked Magbaz travels etc recently but are really looking for more up-to-date info on such a trip. Grateful for any ideas/contributions that anyone may have on such a journey. If there are any other motorhomers would like to join us for all or part of such a trip they are welcome to get in touch. Regards Betsy

travelling taylors
Hi there We did this route May this year travelling north from Fussen up to Warzburg but I think the best way is to do N to S that way you end up in the mountains with glorious views and of course the fairytale castle at Newenstein , I shouldn't bother with paying to tour inside this castle. it is half finished and the outside looks much prettier. The stop offs on route at all the major towns are worth a visit , we took 2 weeks but it can be done in less time . we then joined the industrial heritage route after travelling up the moselle to Koblenz again worth worth the trip. In Prague we stayed at the Sokol campsite and got the bus and train / tram into the city again a lovely place. happy camping
BGD
Prague is ace. Uber-ace. (Also uber-bloody-freezing when we popped over there for a few days in March)
first5
Travelled this road about 25yrs ago and thinking of doing same again later in year. German Tourism board have got an excellent website with links to all sorts of info. Within 2 days receved book listing 100 campsites, route plan of romantic road and other publications all for the voluntary contribution of £2.50p. Not sure of the original website that I used but the address on the info I received is www.germany-tourism.co.uk. Ian.

tonyg3nwl
Hi, Havent done the Prague bit, but did Creglingen to Fussen early June on route to Innsbruck (and beyond) Camping Romantische Strasse at Creglingen very busy , but squeezed us in "last pitch" in the rain. Rothenburg very good for walk round, sat nav details into stelplatz took us an interesting way in across a parkland track. Alternative stelplatz better positioned for town access. Nordlingen stelplatz occupied by funfair, so alternative found other side of railbridge near McD. Chips portion small and expensive! Topped up water at Donauworth stelplatz. Walk round town interesting. Augsburg stelplatz adjacent to bypass and alongside river in spate. A bit noisy. Interesting town again, but quite a walk from stelplatz. Fussen at south end, Campsite about a mile from town centre ( thought it was the stelplatz, but it was a commercial site. A long hot walk into town and a visit to the Church and around the castle walls. Schwangau and Konigscastle couldnt find parking space for van (plenty for cars but height barrier. An enjoyable 10 days, stopping and wandering around the various towns, stelplatz for nightly stops, countryside a bit boring and relatively flat until reaching Alps. Then Fern Pass into Austria for Innsbruck Hope you enjoy your trip tonyg3nwl
