lift for motorhome

Hi Eddie

My wife is also a wheelchair user.

We approached the problem from a different aspect. A Wheelchair lift is an expensive option as it also requires widening the Motorhome habitation door.

Our solution was to go for a Milford Person Lift which is an extended version of that shown on the Autochair website. The Milford lifts my wife from her wheelchair (in a sling) into the Motorhome cab & swivels her on to the seat, or vice versa. Light weight, Quick, simple & easy to use.

Aluminium Milford Person Lift

The Milford Person Lift has been specially designed for lifting people from their wheelchair into a vehicle and out again.

Fits most 4 door cars, all 2 door cars, people carriers and 4x4s.

Lifts up to 17½ stone, this can be upgraded to 21 stone if required.

The NEW Milford weighs just 8kg, has emergency switches and an optional manual operation.

Operation:

"The lift can be operated by a helper or by the disabled person using a small control box attached to a fly lead.

There are only two switches, one for on/off and one for up/down.

The control box can be positioned on the lift using velcro strips.

Once the person has been lifted, horizontal movements are made manually, a process made easy by the three pivot points of the lift.

The Milford Person Lift comes complete with sling and 4 compartment padded bag with carry straps.

Sling sizes: Extra small - Extra large (amputee sling also available)"

The only part of the Milford "fixed" to the motorhome is the Mounting Bracket & electrical connection, so if we should change our Motorhome it can be able to be removed & should be able to fit a replacement.

Our's was the first that Autochair had fitted to the new model Peugeot Boxer(/Fiat Ducato/Citroen Relay). They took photo's of the installation process.

If you want to go with a Wheelchair Lift & wider Door, try Autovan Services in Dorset. I don't have any experience of them but they do bespoke modifications for disabilities.

Hi Eddie,

How about this Auto-Trail I found on eBay with a wheelchair lift already fitted?

It must be the biggest and probably heaviest wheelchair lift ever fitted to a M/H.

Keith.

PS You need to look at the second photo to see the lift!
