macca59
We are travelling from Cambridge to Lands End we are thinking of hitting the road around 16.30 on a Friday so we can drive a fair distance then park up some where, has anyone got any suggestions or where we can get some info on where we can park up for a few hours sleep on our way. Andy_C
Not sure how far you want to go but there's a biggish lay-by on the A303 here: N51 06.047 W2 11.814 The Matford Park & Ride at Exeter has a large vehicle area where motorhomes are 'tolerated' for one night: N50 41.688 W3 31.234 Andy
yrocker
Be sure not to overestimate how far you will get on a Friday evening. We live just of the M5 at junction 25 and the traffic is very heavy on Fridays. Try to avoid the Bristol area, that will invarably come to a standstill! :-(

You probably know this, but just in case - I would forget about the A1 and M25 at peak time on Friday. One alternative is to cut across country, Cambridge, Bedford, Milton Keynes, Bicester, A34 round Oxford then the A420 to join the M4 at Swindon. You may find somewhere suitable to park up from the attached link -http://www.ukmotorhomes.net/ukaires.shtml

neilmac
When you've had enough of driving why not just pull into a suitable pub and ask if you can parkup for the night in their car park?
