EuraMobil Engine

Hi All,Its my first time on here and I'm hoping that someone can help. I have a 1990 Euramobil Motor home. The engine blew its head gasket (running perfectly just before) and the garage I took it to said there was other things wrong and basically took the engine apart. I might add I know little about engines and what they said sounded reasonable. Anyway basically they returned the motor home with half the engine in the back saying they couldn't find any spares. I now need a replacement engine or someone who can re-con the engine. I have tried to track down Euramobil manufacturers, or Puegeot (the engine manufacturer) without any success to find out what the engine was also used in as I am presently trying to track down an engine fitted in just this one motor home. I am sure the engine must have been used in more than one vehicle. The engine is a Puegeot 2.5 and I'm told its a turbo diesel. The vehicle says J% on the side but I'm not sure what that means. Any help would be useful. Many Thanks

I'm sure someone with a more detailed knowledge than me will be along soon, but in the meantime. The 2.5 turbo diesel was produced for use in the Sevel vehicles until about 2002 when it was replaced by direct injection engines. The 2.5 produced by Fiat was used in the Fiat, Peugeot and Citroen vans where as the smaller capacity engines were made by the individual companies. Re-conditioned engines should be readily available as should engines from a breakers but what mileage they have done would be anyone's guess as most motors would have come from LGV's not motorhomes.

EuraMobiles were (are) manufactured in Germany but I'm not sure if they are imported as they disappeared for a while but a google search should turn up the importer if there is one.

write or call Euramobil Germany give them your Vin number and they will tell you exactly the spec of your van...Then you can hunt around for the right motor.

alternatively say where you live and someone may be able to recommend a garage that can help you. what model camper is it?

Dont understand why a reputable repairer cant trace parts from what one assumes would be a very common engine. I would go to a peugout main dealer (preferably one who has a "commercial van" section) as they are sure to be able to sort it. Dont think the converter would be any help at all when it comes to the engine.

Hi Stephen -

Almost certainly your motorhome will have been built on the Peugeot J5 van base.

As a 1990 it'll probably use the 2.5 litre, non-turbo engine that Peugeot fitted at that time. It's exactly the same engine as went into the Citroen C10 version, and as went into the Talbot Express; as all three Companies were owned by the "PSA Group" at that time.

All three van chassis-cabs rolled off the same production line in Sevel, Italy; they were simply badged differently for European/UK sale.

The Haynes workshop manual No 1607 covers this 2.5 litre non-turbo engine (although the book concentrates on the Peuqeot cars which used that engine, rather than the vans...there is no Haynes workshop manual for the Peugeot J5/Citroen C10/Talbot Express van).

A small company called Peter Rusek (Russeck?) publishing does do a detailed manual for this vehicle though....you can buy on line or over the phone from them (Google for their contact details). Be aware though that the quality of the printing in that manaul is very poor; and also that it really is a detailed engineering manual. Very useful though.

This "Preloved" forum may give you a wealth of info on your vehicle and it's engine (cut and paste the link below into your browser):

There's a brilliant UK Company who specialises in spares/repairs for this type of van, called Delfin Designs.

www.delfindesigns.co.uk

Ring them for help/info: they are REALLY helpful.

Cheers,

Bruce.
