starvin marvin
olley - 2010-07-14 7:22 AM looks ok to me. Mind you, anywhere I can get on is ok with me. :-D http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d173/olleybeak/Aires/Brezolles/Brezollesaire.jpg Well you can forget it, then because I've never seen it as empty as the photo. Just wait till the trucks are rolling past which believe me goes on all night! Its like parking at the Calais terminal!!
Vic
Re Le Mont St Michel, the Aire is directly opposite the campsite which is next to the Hotel Vert. Admittedly I was there at the end of April. Maybe prices vary as the season approaches. Definately water and EHU available.
starvin marvin
robertandjean - 2010-07-14 3:34 PM There is nothing wrong with Brezolles, wish were heading there now instead of back to Calais because of family illness. Our three best aires (visited this year) : Nozay (dept 44) Nort-sur-Erdre (dept 44) Gorron (dept 53) Interesting over 100 views and only 2 or 3 constructive responses! Calais is probably quieter than Brezolles. The other reason I don't & won't use Brezolles is because it was the first Aire I had ever used that has an official sign warning of thefts from vehicles, enough said.? mondo
The one I posted as Mer sur Cher should actually read Mery sur Cher forgot the "Y" on the end oops... this is another aire at the side of a main road and there is some traffic noise with large trucks coming past but we still managed a great nights kip no alcohol needed!! Mind you I am a retired truck driver so maybe that helped.. as for not parking at Brezolles as there was a sign saying beware of thieves etc..that could be said for just about every aires in France as it seems to some people a motorhome equals occupants on a holiday equals cash/valuables to be had

Ian0354
My top three goes like this: 1/St Pourcain Sur Sioule, just beautiful. 2/Mijoux, quiet relexation. 3/Geraudot, for the water close by.

robertandjean
starvin marvin - 2010-07-19 6:26 PM Calais is probably quieter than Brezolles. The other reason I don't & won't use Brezolles is because it was the first Aire I had ever used that has an official sign warning of thefts from vehicles, enough said.? Lets just clear this up. The sign pre-dates the aire and was there when it was a general picnic area; a common enough sign on such areas but not relevant now. The aire is often like the photo, with just one or two vans, during the day between say 11.00 and 15.00, it only fills up after then. (we know because we often stay for a couple of days) Regarding truck noise then we have never found it as bad as you state; you must have been very unlucky. Yes the road is used by trucks, but is not the M1, and goes quite after after 23.00 up to 7.00. We have always enjoyed our stay often finding a nice ambience. Last Sept., for example, French and Dutch vanners treated us to a concert of accordian music.
Norma
Yup! No problems with Brezolles either. Think only a couple of vans with us. Can't remember what time of year but happily on our list ' to do again'. As for being near a main busy road - just like being at home! It may not suit you but it suits us. Le Touquet plage features high on our list. When we first stayed their we were one of six vans and it was free - only 9 years ago and yes it was the summer. Still like it but way too busy now. We've only stayed once, in March and it was packed solid, we got one of the last three pitches. It was incredibly noisy all thoughout the night with lorries rushing across country from one autoroute to another. Thats how we found it and red lined it in my aire book. I'll red line it again... accordian music!!! bah humbug.
rupert123
Have been following this thread with interest but if the aire at Brezolles is the one in the picture and some of you think it is good, well you are very easily pleased. No wonder you like aires so much, this one is a car park next to a main road I would not even stay the night. Will continue to use some aires and will post my best three, have to consult wifes diary. So far the best posted are really not great.

robertandjean
Well maybe it was the bottle(s) of red wine we were sharing with our fellow vanners that helped the ambiance not the accordian music! What ever it was a nice evening. And yes Rupert old friend it is the aire in the picture, but it is certainly not like being on a car park, more like parked in a walled garden. But enough of brezolles, lets move on to some other great aires. How about Trigance (dept 83), great views next to lovely village?

crinklystarfish
It's one of those secret ones that seemingly don't appear in guides. I've found a couple whilst meandering. Right in front of the town hall / church. Services are all but hidden in the flower beds with a tiny little motorhome sign next to them. We stayed - nobody seemed to care...It's not the best aire I've used but it's a good one.I'm off back through France next week so trust you'll forgive me for keeping my favourite three to myself. Thankfully none have yet appeared in this list!
le canichot depang
OK here are three of the long list of favourites! Villerest - up in the Ardeche overlooking the (Haute) Loire (reservoir where it has been barraged) - lovely walks and swimming Tinteniac - Ill-es-villene , on the canal, town a short walk away Le Gerbier de Jonc - Right at the source of the river Loire - 1000k from the coast (by river that is)

robertandjean
Mickt - 2010-07-23 6:12 PM Hi jacking this thread has anybody stayed at the aire at MONTFERRAND or can you recommend an aire in this area . Have stayed on this aire, but a few years ago. It was very quite, we were only van. Near to but not with views of canal and only service water (free). Unlit at night and away from houses/road. Hope this helps. With both Trebes and La Redorte now closed it is hard to find aires on the canal de midi. The aire at Fonties-D'Aude is fine for a night but is not on canal. Worth more than a night, but again not on canal is the aire at Lagrasse.
