12v sockets

There are at least two different types of 12v plug and socket and I do believe that you can still buy plugs and sockets for each from caravan accessory stores.

There seems to be a trend these days to use a car type cigarette lighter plug and socket and these too are readily available in a variey of shops.

The first one you describe is made by W4 used to be a standard filament on UK caravans & motorhomes in the 80's, the second one is probably made by Clipsal and is an American 2 pin mains plug UK vans changed to these in the 90's for 12 volt.

Most continental vans have always & still use a Hella plug which is a bit like a small cigar lighter plug but better quality I would recommend you change to these.

Hi Doug

See recent thread, I think this is what you have.

Like Tracker, IMO you would be better off with the cigarette lighter style as most current accessories will be compatableIt would also mean you can switch items between the Motorhome & Caravan.

Don't forget to fit the correct size in-line fuse.
