spospe
Just a reminder for those of you who would like to see the closing illuminations, that this year the dates are Friday 17 and Saturday 18 September. The lights are on before this (since April), but on the last two nights the centre of Chartres is closed to traffic and a fair number of 'Street Theatre' events take place. At an absolute minimum you should allow three hours to get round all the 20+ sights, starting at 21:00. Many of the displays are of the 'son et lumiere' type and each show can last 20 minutes. Sadly, this year the leaflet from the tourist office does not include a map of where the illuminations are located, but if you follow the crowds, you should see most things. Wanderbirds
Thank you for this post. We will now be calling at Chartres late August / early Sept rather than later in October as originally planned. Regards,
