gocro
Were going to the South of France the long way round, through Austria and Italy for the first time . We plan to spend a week in Northern Italy saying at Sostas and campsites, is this feasible or do we need to book sites in advance?
mel wood
Welcome to the forum. For the most helpful responses it would be useful to know when you are planning to go.
Syd
Southern end of Lake Garda go to Camping Butterfly. From there half hour train to Venice, lots of beautiful places all round the lake Judge, on here regularly, will probably give you lots of info as I believe Italy is one of his favorite stamping grounds
mirage
Thinks you may find it better to try to book if going soon sites around Lake Garda were very busy at the end of May.
Guest JudgeMental
Yes Syd, oft next weekend for Lake Garda via switzerland......OP has not come back and said when they are travelling yet. Camping Forenella which we like, gets booked up for the summer season by Christmas:-S But less popular spots, no trouble or low season (outside July/august) likewise. gocro
Sorry I should have said, we tend to avoid the tourist trails. Meandering from Austria into Provence. I've been on the Med in the high season and it's a nightmare getting a place, I just don't want the same hassel in Italy. So would you say, if avoiding the tourist hot spots , we should be OK? terryW
Just spent May & June touring Italy using ACSI discount card and only got turned away once and that was on lake Garda. Having said that by the end of June we were having to arrive early to be sure of a place.
onecal
If you are going at the end of July and through August yes it would be a safer bet to book around Lake Garda as it gets very full that time of year,,,Have a lovely hol' Regards, Brendan
