BrianBW
Does anyone know how much is the oil capacity in the 1997 Peugeot Boxer XUD 9 UTF Turbo Diesel engine, GEARBOX. Changed it about 4 years ago, but don't remember how much I used. With the price of oil these days I don't want to buy too much! Many Thanks. Freewheeler
The Boxer gearbox capacity shown in my handbook is 1.85 litres and the recommendation is to change it every 40,000 miles.
BrianBW
Many thanks, Freewheeler, also to Alf for his direct input. Changed the oil yesterday, I found it took 2.5litres before it started to dribble from the filler/leveller hole. Biggest problem was taking off the drain and filler bolts. They had a 7mm indent requiring a special tool from Halfords. I had to file off a sliver from two edges before I could get it to fit. The last time I did the job was 4 years ago, so perhaps the 40,000 do not apply. The oil was a black colour, the new oil was a clear colour. 3 litres of Oil from Halfords, £29.97. from local factors £17.
