Guest peter
You'd be better off using a 240V one with an inverter, as a 12V one will still cane the batteries and will need substantial cables. Plus the fact that it will cost you an arm and a leg. 240V ones are dirt cheap in places like Asda or Tesco. You can also use the inverter for other uses. peter lambert
I think it would need a hefty Inverter to run a Microwave, due to the current needed. The Inverter might cost anywhere up to £100. So that's why we haven't bothered.

Syd
many microwaves are only 800w so check the 1000w inverter price then do your sums
Mel B
But ... don't forget that the 'output' is less than the 'input', for example that 800w output microwave might need up to double that to actually work! As Syd has said - do your sums.
Dancer
Is'nt it just typical!I had a 12v, very clean microwave, with all fittings, on the 'buy & sell' feature for nearly 6 months. Got fed up & scrapped it last week.It took a lot of power though, had to run the engine to keep the thing going for more than 3 minutes.Go for 240v and spend the money you save on a GOOD inverter. At least half as much more powerful than the m/wave input requirements to allow for operational losses.
