Shower duckboard - Treatment?

Having now taken the time to give my shower duck-board a real scrubbing I wonder, even although I assume it will be made from marine ply, if I should give it further treatment and with what. Its sitting outside in the sunshine, to dry off, on a garden seat, which gets an annual wood treatment. Would that do?

When we had a Kontiki we discarded the duckboard because of its weight and it wasn't particularly nice to stand on (IMHO). It was slippery when wet and could become a bit smelly over time.

It was substituted with a shower mat - can be bought off the roll and cut to shape. Easy to wash and dry and much kinder to the feet.

Wood 'Duckboards' were dumped over 40 odd years ago in the forces as they got germs living in them from one person using the shower to the next and move on from foot to foot so infecting the next shower user. Buy the plastic 'non-slip' shower matting required length cut off the roll. Comes in various colours and designs.
