Hi has anyone heard about the new breakdown insurance from TomTom I have not gone in to it properley as I do not have my motorhome sorted yet but it seams quite good and it covers vehicles up to three and a half tons if you are an owner of a TomTom sat nav then it costs £139-99 if not it costs £159-99 a year it covers you for Europe and the UK when I tried to get insurance from the AA last year they wanted a lot more than that if I included Europe it is run through Mondial I dont know what they are like maybe someone has tried it and can tell me what they think.

I think you may find you can do better when you come to insure your new van, Mick.  :-)

Several of the specialist insurers, for example Comfort, provide a recovery "bolt-on" to the vehicle insurance, in their case operated by the RAC, for a much lower price then either or the TomTom options above.

Taken with the insurance, the cost is way below anything I could find by buying each separately.  Will recover vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, if I remember without restriction on height or length, and you can go as often as you like and for as long as you like.  Coverage is the whole of the EC plus Croatia and a few other countries I can't remember.

Something to look forward to?

Thanks Brian I am with Safeguard at the moment even though I can not use my van but things are looking up and I may be on the road quite soon so I was just looking around for the best and cheapest breakdown and recovery that I can find I did not know that there were insurance companies that that will cover you for motorhomes in the uk and Europe for the above

We have breakdown cover by the camping & caravan club but through RAC and are covered for any weight or length. Good job as we have a 34' american rv and its 7.5 ton. *-) :D. Needed to use them twice in 2 days as we had two blow outs and they were brilliant
