Caroline
Hi We wish to remove our bike rack from the back of the van, it is placed very high and not really of any use. Can anyone help with hints and tips as to how to do this and make good as well. Thanks
Guest Tracker
Simply unbolt the two bolts and lift it off - simples - but easier with two people. Leave the brackets in place and cover them over with the plastic covers that should have come with it when new. If you sell the rack a new owner can readily buy a set of mounting brackets. Caroline
Thanks if we do not have the covers does it matter or should we get some?
LordThornber
Well I would, the cost is negligible and they cover up the ugly mounts. Martyn
fred22
When I removed my bike rack I removed the brackets as well. I then used the type of connector that is used for joining kitchen units together (two plastic screws, one has female thread the other male). I injected sealant into the holes from both sides (and under rim of screw head) Tightened them up and painted them to match existing panel with a car touch up pen. Blended in well with the rest motorhome and being plastic no problems with rust . I could have used filler to fill the holes but this way there is no sanding down. From memory these screws extend to just over two inches but you may be able to get different sizes. B&Q etc stock them
