duffers
a red-necked fundamentalist nut case somewhere in the good ole USA burning / banning books is wrong - don't care what they are - he's doing it because he's an ignorant cretin, also walks around with a gun strapped on all the time - but then - this is the good ole USA we're talking about
flicka
He is trying to incite violence & hatred, whist claiming to be a man of the God. IMO More like Religious Bigot.
Dave Newell
If he does go ahead with it he should be arrested for inciting a riot. D.
CliveH
Agree - this idiot is the very worst kind if bigot. Burning books of any sort is wrong. The taliban tried to annilate the Bhuddist history of Afghanistan by destroying Bhuddist artifacts. This idiot in the USA is akin to that. http://archaeology.about.com/od/heritagemanagement/a/buddha.htm http://www.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&rlz=1W1_____en&q=Taliban+Buddhist+statues&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=o4KITOvAIsuTjAf3rcjLCA&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CD0QsAQwAw
Bazza454
No - but he should be allowed to burn a couple of flags if he wants to..............http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/images/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Guest Tracker
It does seem strange that anyone burning the Bible would probably not be thought racist yet anyone burning the Koran would be? I agree that he should not do it but neither should anyone else burn any other books related to religion anywhere in the world. It does not offend me because I have no religious affiliations but I can understand why it would offenfd those who do have religious affiliations. Religion may have a lot to answer for come the judgement day?
duffers
it offends me - despite my having absolutely no religious inclinations, it also frightens me - all this arrogant and absolute self righteous belief that there is only one answer and everyone else will burn in hell eventually so what happens to them in the meantime is of no concern. take him into protective custody now - before he incites a riot
Tony Jones
Burning people is wrong - however wrong they are. Burning books - however wrong THEY are - is just childish and immature. Threatening violence - or doing it - because someone burns a book is all three. This man is silly to want to burn a Koran, and evil if he's doing it especially to provoke and anger others, but in a free country he shouldn't be prevented. However, if that gun means he wants to shoot Muslims, even those he thinks condoned 9/11, he SHOULD be stopped. BTW - The Bible means a lot to me because of its content, not because that particular bit of paper and cardboard (or leather!) is somehow "holy." So I've often thrown away old worn-out Bibles, without a second thought. They may end up burned, pulped down, or in landfill. I wonder what happens to old worn-out copies of the Koran? Just a thought.

Exactly , I have noticed that what is good for the goose never turns out to be sauce for the Gander where Muslims (some ) are concerned . When they said they were issuing a Fatwa on Salam Rushdie I didnt notice the whole of England up in arms. I happen to think the man is bonkers in this case ,the media also for giving it air time . The pastor would of gone to bed if the media hadnt got hold of it and it would of been just an ordinary Ground Hog Day in his town but thanks to the Media its not . let the man burn the book he is after all mentally unbalanced why give it so much fuss and the Muslims ought to grow up and look at this as a very sad man rather than issue what ever whaat ever threats . thats my take anyway . Well done Tony ;-)

Never read the Koran Richard, and again'st 'book burning' in any shape or form, but if the grammatical content and spelling is anything like what you just wrote then Pastor Terry Jones has, on this occasion, my full blessing to burn every copy he can lay his hands on. Bulletguy
A link in the opening post to this thread would have been VERY useful *-) So here is one which at least provides more descriptive information as to the thread topic; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11243711 America has always been a rather strange country full of wacko's and weirdo's and this burning business is nothing new. Anyone remember this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc7rBVUIHUg Not to mention the KKK nutters and bile and crap they STILL continue to spew out on race hate. This current episode is simply another day in good 'ol US of A.

vindiboy
As a Christian [ Fallen ] I can understand the Muslims being incensed by the threat of burning their Holy Book, Religion in England has become totally irelevant IMO ,look at all the Churches that have been turned into pubs, but the Muslims are still fanatical about their Religion and way of life, I don't have a lot of time for them personally but I think it wrong for this man to burn the Quaran if that's how it's spelt, not at least for the harm it will cause to innocent people in Muslim countries If he wanted to burn the book, why did he not just do it quietly in his back yard, because he wants maximum publicity that's why, under the American constitution he is entitled to take this action BUT his local authority won't issue him with a BURNING LICENCE if you ever heard anything so daft.
