mgain
when in amsterdam , if you can park in canalstraat, there are plenty of birds to watch , but they might charge you for this.

Usinmyknaus
Breskens on the western coast is famous for its view of spring and autumn migrations. The top of the huge dyke provides a panoramic view out to sea and the birds tend to follow the coast. I'm not a birder myself so you would need to do some research on appropriate forums but when I was last walking that dyke there were lots of vantage points with signs listing species and (phenomenal) numbers of birds which could be expected at different times of the year. There are lots of commercial sites to stay on nearby. We were happy with Camping Schoneveld which is well located for the viewing points that might interest you, it is quite big and commercial but the convenient and relatively quiet location for the sea and port swung it for us on that occasion. All the staff speak excellent English. A pleasant walk or cycle along the dyke to Breskens port is highly recommended where a harbour-side fish stall sells fabulous, fresh fish and seafood. There is also an exceptionally good yacht chandlery on the harbour for interesting bits and pieces of kit. If any in your party have mobility problems do go well prepared as the height gain from campsite level to dyke top is extraordinary, although ramps are provided as well as stairs. Usinmyknaus
Depending on route, you might like to consider Camperpark Vogelzang, Vogelzanglaan 7-9, 2020 Antwerp, Belgium (for motorhomes only). We have found this to be a convenient and cheap overnight halt on the way to East Germany, North Holland etc. It's a municipal and costs just 10 euros a night. It's in the city, 20-30 minutes walk from the old town and its eateries (excellent Italian restaurant in main square). Very basic facilities - loos and showers old and tired but reasonably clean, "cleaned by volunteers", water 50c for 50 L, reception open 0900-2000, with 24 hour warden security, chem disp and grey water disp. Electric on meter. English spoken by warden. Some road noise of course. Tel ++32 477800 880. NB on day of departure gate is always closed and locked until 0900. Beware cyclo-terrorist lunatics on push bikes in city centre who think entire pavement is for them. I'd second Michelle's suggestion of Brugge too, 'cos its a great place to visit. kazlepops
Hi Folks Thanks for the info on those aires, Dave (husband) seemed particularly keen on the canalstraat one, cant think why! all the info will be a great help. Its our first trip abroad in the van (swift ace firenze) so we,re excited and a bit nervous about the ferry due to the long overhang on our van. Still should be ok if we take it slowly getting on and off the ferry. fingers crossed. Thanks again every one kazlepops
Mel B
kazlepops - 2010-09-13 9:03 PM Hi all Anyone got any tips on agood Aire within an hour of Calais in the direction of Amsterdam. Also once in Holland anybody got any tips on sites that are good for birdwatching. Thanks everybody There's an aire at Sas Van Gent, Holland, would take approx 1.45-2.00 hours if that's any good? Its at the side of the canal between it and the large river, on the outskirts of the village, but on the opposite side from the main road so not too noisy. No facilities as such, but a nice place to spend the night, not a million miles out of your way either. We've stayed there a few times now without a problem. MandyAndy
This is a fantastic site which we have stayed on a couple of times, also recommended it to friends who have been back twice already. http://www.molecaten.nl/nl/napoleon-hoeve/ It is an ASCI site so good cheap rates most of the year, take your bikes and you can catch the ferry across to Middleburg which is a beautiful town. We took one of the 3 hour boat rides up the river and did bird spotting on the way, lots to see along there. Right next to a huge beach that goes for miles in both directions and indoor pool for when weather is not too kind. It is part of a large company who own quite a few sites around Holland and that is how we found this one by staying at the one a little further inland with huge water park and lake, we didn't have bikes there but really wished we had. sklnkl
After playing with mine for the weekend, I have to agree. The productivity applications on the iPad are necessarily more limited, but for basic tasks they are significantly faster ed hardy shirts and more natural to use than the desktop equivalent. The small form-factor, touch ed hardy clothing interface, and instant-on-always-available quality of the iPad allow the machine to get out of the way of whatever task may be at hand. The fact is that 98% of business tasks do ed hardy clothes not require advanced features, so it becomes natural to just grab for the pad rather than open the laptop.
