Tony Jones
We're considering doing a day-trip by Eurotunnel, but to be worthwhile we need an early start. We've often slept on the Marine Drive spot in Dover, but does anyone know if there's anything similar near the Folkestone tunnel terminal?
Guest JudgeMental
I think an overnight is the same price as a day trip with tunnel, giving 2 days there? Maybe worth checking.....
Tony Jones
Possibly Eddie, but my problem is having two days free when it's not my holiday time. Monday is my "regular" day off, and I can usually escape Sunday afternoon, so in theory I could get over the channel early evening and then use an Aire. I'll give it some thought - thanks! LordThornber
Hi Tony, am I being thick here? Are you going over in the van? If so, why don't you sleep at the Tunnel Terminal itself? Martyn
Tony Jones
I don't know - can you do that? I know you can't at Dover ferryport, but I've only used the Tunnel in cars before so not taken much notice of possible sleeping places.
LordThornber
Hi Tony, we slept in the van there in July. We were crossing at 03.30, arrived at 10pm and was offered an immediate crossing which we declined due to fatigue. In we went and parked up. There's water available if you need it near the coach toilet emptying point. We'd set our alarm early enough but obviously Eurotunnel don't take any chances, they must take a look at the hanger on your interior mirror, ascertain when your crossing and, quelle surprise, give you an alarm call. Brilliant. Martyn
MandyAndy
Hi Tony, We have done just as above, always get there early nearly always get offered next train or the one after. Arrived 26 hours early 3 weeks ago and paid £20 to go straight over. Only time we didn't was August bank holiday last year and we spent night in coach park along with 3 others, saw and spoke to no one so not a problem. Quite a busy night with coaches but you expect that on that night. Mandy

myshell
Hi Tony Try the early arrivals parking at the junction before the tunnel, Jct 11, I think it is but it's signposted anyway it,s a lot quieter than staying on the terminal keep the petrol station on your right and follow the road round to the coach park, if you park up at the back of the coach park there is an entrance to the toilet/washroom facilities. Have a good trip. Regards Phil
