pepe63xnotuse
At some point we're looking at switching to a refillible gas cylinder, ditching our "spare" and in doing so freeing up valuable external locker space(..this being the main reason for switching ). The thing is,we use our "spare" cylinder to run our bbq(..using a seperate regulator and quick release fittings). Now I don't want to fit an external bbq point,so I'm looking for a tidy "T"/Tap/Quick release coupling, arrangement that I can fit inside the gas locker.. I know I can achieve this by using a selection of different fittings(..but this may end up looking a bit Heath Robinson). So I just wondered if anyone has done this and has come across a neat, possibly self contained unit? (I could really do with a surface mounted version of the external bbq points..) Thanks Chris
dikyenfo
Considering the weight factor and the messing about it may be worth getting a Cobb BBQ which are civilised compared with most of the ilk and you can do proper cooking in them e.g. whole chickens and joints of meat for just a few briquettes. There are reports on the web if you are interested and this is a v. light BBQ.
Keithl
Hi Chris, If you're handy at DIY then how about making up your own mounting? The more usual 'push fit' connectors (ie NOT Bullfinch) are otherwise known as Rectus Type 21, Camozzi or Schrader Miniature so if you try Googling these names you should find a connector that you are able to securely mount and safely connect to your system. Worth a look? Keith.
pepe63xnotuse
Thanks for your reply.. Although,if we can,we really want to keep the option of using a gas stove or bbq outside.. Chris Edit: Oops!..sorry keith, missed your post. Yeah,it's well within my capability ;-) ..it's just that by the time you've mated a Tee - Tap- quick release coupling together(and possibly an elbow in there somewhere!),it'll look a bit messy.. :-S
pepe63xnotuse
This is one of the MANY sites that I've looked at.. :$ http://www.gasproducts.co.uk/acatalog/Caravan_Gas_Equipment.html ...there's certainly no shortage of fittings, which will enable me to achieve what I'm after... It's just surprising that there isn't a unit designed for this purpose... Chris (Oops! that link didn't work!)
LordThornber
I might be wrong, (usually are), but wasn't there a lengthy thread, with pics (?) on this subject recently? It might be worth a dabble with the search facility. Martyn

Keithl
Chris, I've just looked in CAK Tanks Gas section and on Page 55 they list a combined 'Plug in Gas Outlet Valve' which may help with tidying things up. It appears to connect to 8 mm copper pipe so should be fairly easy to install. They also list the more normal Box & Connector or an older version with no tap if either are of any use. Keith. Robinhood
CAK Tanks do a free-standing tap/quickrelease fitting (and the nozzle to fit it), similar to the unit which is mounted in the external bbq boxes. Patently, you would have to tee it yourself to any main piping (but as far as I can see, this would have to be done with any solution). pepe63xnotuse
Thanks Keith..! (..I didn't think of looking a CAK.. :$ ) That outlet valve hits the spot..:-D Thanks again Chris Edit:..and thanks Rob ... ;-)
