Mr. Grumpy
In view of the possible problems with ferries next week does anyone know for certain what rules apply if we have our dog checked by a French vet then get delayed for more than 48 hours after the time entered on the dogs' passport? If we check in at the post within the 48 hour dead line then don't arrive in Dover until after the deadline will be allowed back in?
Mel B
As far as I'm aware, the check-in time is the critical thing. Once that's done at the ferry port/Eurotunnel before you return, you have officially gone into a 'UK' area. It might mean that you have to hang out at the ferry port for a while so make sure you've got water and food supplies just to be safe for a day or so. To be safe I'd check with the ferry operator though.
RogerGW
That's certainly the case at Eurotunnel. There's a separate counter that pet owners go to first. Once the animal's got the all-clear, you're given a windscreen sticker saying so and can go to check-in. Roger
Patricia
There must be two threads with the same title as I posted on one thread after I had phoned DEFRA. They said definitely that you would HAVE to have the treatment done AGAIN. So my advice would be to delay having the treatment until you are sure of sailing. I also posted the address of the nearest vet to Calais port.
