Breakdown recovery and a Guide Dog pup

We are about to collect our first motorhome and have had lots of our questions answered by reading this forum so thank you all.

A few starter questions, I'm sure there will be more.

1. I have AA cover through my Lloyds bank platinum account and cannot find anything specific about cover for motorhome.

2. AA do say they cover recovery of assistance dogs but do not say if they cover Guide Dog puppy in training.

3. Do the sites that charge for dogs also charge for guide dog puppies.

The reason I ask of course is that we are puppy walkers for Guide Dogs and have rarely if ever had a puppy treated as anything other than a qualified assistance dog. Meaning access all areas and no charge either.

Hi and welcome to the mad house. :-D

1. I have AA cover through my Lloyds bank platinum account and cannot find anything specific about cover for motorhome.

A normal car policy doesn't generally cover a motorhome - it will depend on exactly what you're getting as they have width, length and weight restrictions on their policies. Only way to know for sure is to get the details of your new motorhome and ring them I'm afraid.

2. AA do say they cover recovery of assistance dogs but do not say if they cover Guide Dog puppy in training.

I've never had a dog 'breakdown'!!!! Sorry, couldn't resist! :D Seriously though, a phone call would seem to be in order as this is not something which forum members will probably have come across.

3. Do the sites that charge for dogs also charge for guide dog puppies.

Sorry, don't know about this but I think the reason that a guide dog is free is because they are a 'necessity' for the blind person, whereas a dog in training isn't a 'necessity'. I would imagine it would very much be determined on the view of the site's owner/manager.

Please do let us know what your findings are though.

:-)

AA breakdown will cover Motorhomes up to 3500kg but there is a width limit of 2.3m.

If you want European cover you can extend the Lloyds cover I did it a few years ago on a car it was £75 a bit expensive probably dearer now.

If you have not insured the new van yet get a quote from Comfort they were way cheaper with better cover when we renewed this year & annual European breakdown cover is only £57 (no limit on size or weight).
