nightrider
I go in hospital tomorrow for my long awaited operation which is called a trans urethral resection of the prostate, a rather grand title, wont tell you what it involves as I dont want to bring tears to grown mens eyes. Hopefully everything goes well, so I am now off work until mid january I could do with a break. Got to be at the hospital for 7am which means leaving home at 6am, worse thing for me is the fact that I cant have brekkers in the hospital restaurant, they do their bacon just how I like it, nice and crisp. nightrider
Am now back home after a couple of days in hospital, everything is now working although a little sore. No matter what you go in hospital for there is always someone worse off than you. Under no circumstance let any political party nibble at and reduce the quality of the NHS, fight tooth and nail for it.

The guy opposite me who'd had the same 'op' died and he was younger than me. You can imagine how that made me feel. It really p**ses me off when I hear folk moaning about how awful the NHS is. I think people, with the passing of time, tend to forget how bad it got! Earlier in the year I had my Hip replaced at MK Hospital, absolutely superb. 4 months from my doctor deciding I needed it done to the operation. Horror stories from all those years ago when people were waiting 2 years for the same operation. I hate to think how much pain they would have been in! Glad you are on the mend. nightrider
My stay in hospital was made all the better for two wonderful charactors one was the elderly Italian guy in the next bed to me. He was bemoaning the fact that he could not have a smoke and in his broken English saying under his breath, Jesus Christa, I go crazy for da smoka, every now and again he would slip into the toilet for a quick drag. The amount of food his wife brought him would have fed the entire ward. The other charactor was the male nurse in charge of the ward, obviously gay who ruled the ward with an iron fist, mincing up and down the ward giving orders to his staff, even the doctors were in awe of him and held him in high respect, some of the things that he came out with would have put Kenneth Williams to shame, really comical. I can't see that you would have had better attention even if you went private. My son called to see me last night and said will you be back at work for monday? I gave him a withering look that conveyed my thoughts.
