Autosleepers Monocoque - 2004 Ford?

A firm in Scotland are advertising an Autosleeper monocoque on a 2004 Ford Transit Mk6. I didn't think AS made them as late as that. Does anyone know?

Can anyone tell me what it was called?

Or has someone stuck an older monocoque body on a later chassis? (not unheard of in earlier days!)

(And no, we're not "in the market" again. But we ARE wondering about the idea of changing for a roomier van now we've got a "proper" car as well, and in the process liberating some of the cash we tied up in "Roxie." I know it doesn't make economic sense to change for something older, but it might possibly be right for us just now.)

Hi Tony, I know you were hoping that your esteemed employers would provide you with a lovely retirement home on the English Riviera with sea views and parking for a motorhome, but 2 motorhomes and a car, I think you're pushing your luck a bit! ;-) ;-)

But, I have to say the link that Mel has provided does seem to show a very nice van indeed.

I note that Auto-Sleepers has re-launched the Executive with monocoque body-shell. Does anyone know the asking-price?

(Hopefully, as with the original version, A-S will offer an alternative body colour to the cat-puke brown shown in the MMM advert!)

The figure of £54,000 comes to mind Derek, but I can't be certain as I can't remember where I read it!

Yes,

We bought a 2006 Amerthys A/S, S/Hand with 6000 miles on the clock, it looked bran new, cooker never used, on a Ford Mk6 chassis, 14 months ago, best buy we have ever had, we are now on 13000 miles, we have no rattled or bangs, its quite quiet when travelling, very comfortable and relaxing driving, I think that it was possible one of the last made.

Alan

Auto-Sleepers were still listing the Amethyst in their model line-up when you were considering buying one in July 2009. This would, by then, have been built on the Transit Mk 7, but I've no idea how many (if any!) were actually sold using that chassis.

It's perhaps worth observing (for Tony's benefit) that the 2.4litre Ford motor in non common-rail form can be startlingly 'vocal', particularly when the vehicle is being driven at low speeds. The first Transit 2.4litre powerplant with common-rail fuelling was the 137PS version (with 6-speed gearbox) and that was definitely being marketed in 2004. However, lower powered variants (with 5-speed gearbox) didn't get common-rail fuelling until (I think) mid-2005.
