Don Madge
mirage - 2010-10-19 8:36 PM Has anyone been on a GB Priveledge Tour we are looking at Italy. If so any comments on sites, meals, value for money and do you need to be a social animal to enjoy it? Never been on one of their tours but only heard excellent reports about them. See this link http://www.motorhomefacts.com/ftopict-34656-gb.html+privilege+tours it's a bit out of date but? Don
Uncle Bulgaria
We've been on 3 tours with GB Privilege in the past 3 years - Bavaria, Italy and, just recently, Portugal. Enjoyed all three. Good way of touring in a country for the first time. Not everything was perfect, but I'd give even the worst 8 out of 10. They are relatively expensive, but everything is pre-planned and well organised. You don't have to be a social animal, but we have always found other couples on the tour that share our quiet outlook on life. With each tour, we have stayed on and made our own way back to the UK, turning a 3 week trip into 6 or 7 weeks at little additional cost. Richard. ned
Hi, No not for me I'm afraid. I prefer the adventure of self discovery and for the cost that they charge, I can get in another two or three trips abroad in the year. I can see the point if you need reassurance but having your life organised for you isn't my idea of joy :-S. Its why I don't like package hols or the ubiqitous Cruise. Still, each to their own............... Ned
mirage
We`ve been self discovering for quite a few years now but can I really be bothered studying all those guidebooks, campsite books and public transport timetables to see what there is to see in Italy. Went to Venice enroute Slovenia last year that was straight forward as its relatively small but cities such as Rome, Florence etc etc could take a day just to have a cursory glance at, a guide would cut out a lot of wasted footwork or perhaps I`m getting lazy. flicka
Have to agree with Ned on this, organised tours are not for us. But for some they give reassurance & comararderie. Not being antisocial but for us part of the anticipation of any trip has to be in the planning and flexibility to change those plans if we wish. i.e. spend more or less time at a particular place. Also the opportunity to stop for something of interest to the individual must be compromised by definition. Our hobby is all about what suits the individual & long let it remain so. Dave Newell
We went to Ireland with GB Privilege on their first trip there and it was very good. Our guide (who was actually the boss of GB) did an excellent job and even managed to organise an extra bus to take us all into town on the Monday (Paddy's day) for the parade. Perhaps not the cheapest way to tour but you do get a lot for your money. Our trip included a Sunday lunch and an evening meal with traditional entertainment on the Monday evening. D.
