LordThornber
Just back from ASDA and thought I'd share this with you. The guy on the checkout told us that from Monday 25th, when you spend £40 you receive £40 of vouchers back. Cue slightly surprised look from me prompts him to say that you can come back as often as you like (and get more vouchers) and the offer runs until, I think he said mid Nov. Doubtless there is the odd caveat, like fuel purchases don't count etc but this looks like a good one. I'm sure there'll be a press release but you may wish to hang for some shopping until Monday? Assuming the vouchers will have to be spent instore, Asda would end up giving items away for nothing! Even if you had to spend £40 in hard cash each time to get the vouchers, they are still selling everything at half price......and that amount of reduction I have NEVER seen in ANY Supermarket!! LordThornber
Like I said BG, a surprised look from me. Nonetheless that's what he said, and I made a note of his name, (Tom) so I can have him lynched (and dismissed) of course if he's dared told me an untruth. I'm quite looking forward to tomorrow. I'll be at our local 24 hour ASDA at 00:01 to make sure he wasn't fibbing. I'm tenatively planning 10 trips, on average 15 minutes, so 150 mins @ £40 = £400 for 2.5 hours. Seems like a good do to me. I suspect 2011's coffee, loo roll, washing powder and tinned (sorry), salmon are covered. Joking aside, I can't think of a reason why he'd mention it though can you? Anyway, remember where you heard it first :D Martyn

Bulletguy
LordThornber - 2010-10-24 10:39 AM Like I said BG, a surprised look from me. Martyn As the saying goes....if it sounds too good to be true, then it's because it is! Only time I remember a Supermarket cocking it up big time was Tesco or some other who priced up some cheese or bananas (cant remember which) where if you bought so much, you got x amount free. Some bright spark had it all figured out, grabbed a couple of big trolleys and cleared the shelves. Wasn't till then that the Supermarket twigged....by which time it was too late, but at least they had the decency to honour the deal and admit their mistake! enodreven
Hi, I received nearly £30 of vouchers from Tesco, they came with my club card statement, the problem was they were for most things I have no use for, not saying that's what you will get tomorrow. But if he said you will get £40 of vouchers when you spend £40 that doesn't mean you will get an open ended £40 voucher that can be used against any purchase, it could be like I got from Tesco, a range of vouchers for all sorts of things that if you buy all of them your total saving would be worth £40. Hope I'm wrong as we have to go to ASDA's tomorrow and I could do with a spare £
enodreven
Hi, Again On the subject of good deals Morrison's have Nescafe Gold Blend 300 grams for £4, that's a good deal if you like Gold Blend. But be-careful our local Morrison's had the offer sign next to a pile of 200 gram jars, if you do take up the offer make sure you pick up the 300 gram jars as they look very similar ? LordThornber
LordThornber Doubtless there is the odd caveat Martyn Glad I put that in :D There is a link on ASDA's website to the offer but it doesn't explain anything, so out of curiosity I rang them. You do indeed receive £40 of vouchers if you spend £40 in one transaction, however, (and almost needless to say), the vouchers are to be spent on certain items. It runs for the first 2 weeks of November and no I've no idea what you can spend the vouchers on but there'll be something for someone no doubt. Thats a typical Morrison trick. I'm a Morrison regular but you really have to watch 'em like a hawk. The sugar is one of the daftest. Its cheaper to buy 2 x 1kg bags than to buy a 2kg. They put a limit on of six bags per customer.....but you can go back into the store and buy another lot as many times as you like! How potty is that? Some offers are worthwhile and genuine. They had Homepride 'cook in sauce' in the tins on BOGOF at £1.09 which made the cost of each at 54.5p. You couldn't make the sauce for that cost. Mel B
braunston - 2010-10-24 6:15 PM Hi, I received nearly £30 of vouchers from Tesco, they came with my club card statement, the problem was they were for most things I have no use for, not saying that's what you will get tomorrow. Why not do what we do - give them away! If we are shopping and don't want/need some of the vouchers (for such as baby food etc) I'll look for someone down that aisle and give them the vouchers to use. :-D

Guest pelmetman
I was there today, the thought of 40 quid for nuffink! was to much for my thrift genes to avoid, did a detour from our trip home from Weymouth, walked through the doors saw the signs saying spend £40 get £40 of VOUCHERS (Dam! why didn't I notice the voucher bit). *-) Why am I so gullible >:-( Oh well er in doors got a nice top, and a free range chicken for the weekend. :D

LordThornber
Well I clocked the tv ad last night which showed some of the items on offer, washing powder (£5 off), being one of them. As someone else has already said, just swap or give your unwanted vouchers to whoever and make use of those you want. Martyn

LordThornber
Thanks for that John, just a quick reckon up of what we'd normally buy indicates a saving of about £10, so that coupled with the win on last nights Lottery will do thankyou very much :-D Martyn
howie
'Every little bit helps' Martyn and good of you to pass on the voucher tip. Drives me nuts being dragged around looking for 'bargains' and left on my own would simply go in and buy what's needed, but the wife's more astute and must admit the amount she saves on the weekly shop more than justifies all that trolly pushing.
