A Moving Experience?

Thanks for asking Mel.

Some things are going according to plan but I can't quite recall which things they are or what the original plan was!

Oh yes - I remember - a plan is only a starting point and is liable to change at any time and without warning - which it did/does!

I'm far from convinced that going for a new combi boiler is such a good idea as yet or if it will be cost effective but we do need a new oil tank soon as the old 'un is as rusty as an anchor!

We were not going to change the bathroom just yet but following numerous leaks, cracked sanitary ware, broken bath panel (hidden by judiciuosly placed bathmat for viewing!), and dodgy wiring, we've lashed out refitting the lot with a nice new 1200 x 900 mm pumped shower, jacuzzi bath and posh loo and basin with all new floor and wall tiles. Also replaced the cloakroom loo and tiled the floor plus replaced broken shower and basin in the en suite and tiled the floor. A few new blinds and some curtains is about as far as we've got elsewhere and I've just knocked out the old hideous fireplace - with the aid of a very noisy and dusty Kango - ready to fit the nice new one that my dear wife fancied!

Spent a couple of days in the garden with chainsaw and brushcutter when it was warmer and cleared enough to make a lovely hedgehog and wildlife habitat in one corner of the garden behind the summer house.

In between odd jobs abound and it's never a dull moment but I still have not found time to go and look at any nice Jags yet!

Will probably order new windows and conservatory soon if we can decide which colour to go for as some of the windows are flippin draughty and are now sealed with masking tape!

How's life with you - moving yet?

No movement here I'm afraid, although we nearly sold it last week! A chap came and saw it on his own on a Thursday, then came back with his partner on the Sunday, and they came back again the following Saturday (last weekend) but although they loved the place, and the garden, they decided that they want to live more in the centre of the village (we're less than 10mins easy walk away along 'safe' routes (ie no dark country lanes to contend with). Rather them than me with all the students that frequent the village centre and its numerous pubs! They won't be able to get the size of garden etc in the village itself but that's the compromise they're going to have to make. Better for them to get what they want than buy somewhere they might not settle into.

I'm sure the agent will be chomping at the bit for us to reduce the price once more which we have already told them we wouldn't do as it is certainly worth what we're asking - we're not desperate to sell and 'give it away'. Other things going on in the background for me, at work in particular, mean that selling it now would complicate things anyway and I don't know that I want that sort of hassle ... can't say more than that at the moment. *-)

We're considering taking it off the market for a while as it's a bit of a bind having to keep it really tidy etc just in case we get a call for a viewing, it'd be nice to be able to 'relax' a bit more and slob for a while!!! We'll just see how it pans out for a while I think, unless the agent gets pushy in which case we might push back even harder! :-D
