BarnacleBob
Hi All, I have been trying to find an up to date and accurate source of current speed limits for a M'home between 3500 -7500kgs. gross weight either solo or towing a trailer. Does anyone know where I might find this information for all EU countries (except for the UK and France with which I am familiar), in one place if possible? Derek Uzzell
Assuming that a 3500kg-7500kg motorhome is considered to be a 'truck', then this link may help: http://www.transportsfriend.org/int/speed.html
BarnacleBob
Derek, Thanks very much for that, I suppose I can't go far wrong complying with truck speed limits. BatnacleBob
peejay
One caveat to add to Derek's link is that on German autobahns, Motorhomes with a GVW >3.5t and <7.5t have a 100kph speed limit. This limit was raised from 80kph a couple of years ago. Pete
JohnP
I think that vehicles with over 3500t (Train weight) have to show speed discs on the rear. However the Caravan Club are not 100% certain because there is a conflict of information from various bodies in Europe. Speed Stickers – Are they required? Motorhomes and Car/caravans with a train weight exceeding 3.5 tons fall under lower speed limits in France. The following is an extract from a longer document produced by the Caravan Club. The French highway code stipulates that 80 and 90 stickers must be displayed by vehicles required to drive at the lower limits, however we have been contacted by various members who live in France advising us that this requirement to attach stickers is being ignored, and the French police are not interested in enforcing it. We have also received conflicting opinions from the legal department of the ACF and the office of the French Minister of Transport, the ACF say that the stickers need to be displayed by vehicles registered abroad and the French Minister of Transport is staying that they do not. We have tried without success to get clarification on this point, if you feel that you wish to attach the stickers they can be purchased from www.speedstickers.co.uk telephone: 0800 988 7329 (between 10.00 – 14.00) The full document can be found on the Club website at http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/media/5582430/french speed limits.pdf On a recent visit to France I did not see one motorhome complying with this requirement and only thee car/caravans complying - all LR Discoveries towing twin axles. djchapple
JohnP - 2010-10-31 7:44 PM I think that vehicles with over 3500t (Train weight) have to show speed discs on the rear. I'm rather confused by the connection between "vehicles" and "over 3.5t (train weight)" As the load is stated as a "train weight" presumably the "vehicle" must be a vehicle towing something.... or have I missed something and got it wrong?
