gordonb
My 2006 Murvi developed an unusual engine speed whine, coming down the foothills of the Pyrenees. Eventually I found a noisy tensioner pulley on the aircon drive belt. (Under the plastic shroud, below the engine, offside - 2 bolts below, 1 smaller nut up toward the wheelarch) The parts should be self evident once you can see what you are doing. Fiat part - the black plastic pulley with moulded in bearing is No. 504084453 - the same part Number from Iveco on the 'net accesses the part for about a quarter of a Fiat dealer price..... Hardest part is knowing what tension to put back in the belt - the original seemed very tight....perhaps the root of the problem.
747
Hi there, The belt needs to be tight as its driving a compressor. You might need to get somebody to keep the tension on while you lock it up.
gordonb
A bolt (6mm?) is mounted sideways, to thrust on the pulley swinging arm - easy to adjust the tension - and not hard to keep going toward very tight. I set mine pretty tight, ran the engine for a while to ensure the multi-vee belt was definitely settled; then relaxed it slightly to allow about 5mm eachway movement under firm finger pressure.
