nightrider
Anyone out there ever used Gumtree for selling stuff? you can place advertisements free of charge, I've only used it this last two weeks and sold quite a bit of stuff, really impressed with it, makes a change getting something for nothing. Guest JudgeMental
But unlike ebay you dont know who you are opening the door to? no feedback/registration of any description bunch of thieving rogues IMO, a lot of the stuff is nicked, particularly as I said earlier true of bikes....it has no protection and openly sells stolen goods
Big Momma
It has also in the past offered rooms for rent. People get in touch via a phone number, send a deposit and then guess what.................. *-) remember the saying 'Nothing in life is ever Free'

Mel B
We have 'free ads' in our local newspaper for items up to £100 in most categories and find that useful, they automatically go on line on the 'Loot' website too. We can also put stuff on Loot ourselves for nowt, which I don't think has a restriction on the amount.
nightrider
Over the last couple of months or so I have made a fair amount of money selling stuff on Gumtree and had no problems. Had a guy fone last night after something that I have currently got for sale, judging by his accent he seemed to be of African extraction, his whole spiel was an attempted con trick, but I have been around a long time and used to the buying and selling game and am cuter than a barrel full of meercats, so the guy put the fone down when he realised that he had been sussed out. nightrider
A lot of the people who express an interest in the gear that I have been selling on Gumtree originate from the places where they haggle in the market place, I dont haggle. The price that I quote is the price I want, some guy emailed me this afternoon asking if I would take less than the £60 asking price, I emailed back saying I would accept £70, lets see if he replies? as it happens the article was sold last night for the asking price with no quibbles.
