nightrider Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Its my wife Barbara's birthday later in the month and I am at a loss as what to get her, any suggestions? Last year I bought her a belting Stanley pump screwdriver from B&Q when she opened the wrapping I could see her face dropping, what the ******* hell is this? she said, I said I thought you might find it handy seeing as you are always diving into my tools to do a job.
Guest peter Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Get her a Socket Set. My wife was well pleased when I bought her one for Christmas last year. Or you could get her one of those brushes on a pole, to wash the Van with. That's what my O/H is hoping for this year. :D
Mel B Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I got a set of chisels one year ... :-D ... and hubby often brings me back presents from car boot sales - recent 'gifts' have been a cordless hedge trimmer and a tile grouting set. :->

Maybe you should try asking Barbara what she would like and then give her a massive surprise by actually buying it for her!
Corky 8 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 If you haven't got a reversing camera why not buy her an Umbrella for when its raining and she has to get out and back you up ....Very thoughtful, If your a really nice bod you could buy her the Autoglym polishing set,and a Lambs fleece mitt to keep the polish of her hands ,(yer dont want your steak tasting of Autoglym) or a really nice pair of designer wellies for when she trips lightly across to the elsan point to empty the loo Cassette, now think how stylish she would look doing it in those wellies, and the new umbrella as well WOW, mind you too much can spoil em you know....................Ouch????!!!!!
flicka Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Follow-up to Corky's theme. Tripping across to loo disposal point in high fashion >:-) http://www.wellie-boots.com/wedge-welly-wellington-boots-candy-girl.htm Remember them from the Dragons Den. Oops, is that not appropriate :-o
Mel B Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 ... Sarah of 'Wedge-wellie' fame actually works where I do, and I know her. I remember being on a training course a couple or so years ago when they were just getting their product off the ground and thinking how 'impractical' they were ... but what do I know! 8-) :D

Your old man must really think a lot of you and you him. To not plunge the lot of them chisels into his cranium. My wife probably would be tempted to do exactly that. (lol)
Guest pelmetman Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I once bought Sue a hot air gun to strip all the old lead paint of the stairs! She's still here!....................................the life insurance policy was a waste of money though :D (lol) (lol)

I also got a lovely set of screwdrivers one year too! :-> I wonder what your wife would have done with those Peter!!! 8-) I do 'treat' myself occasionally too ... got a second hand Black and Decker workbench from a car boot sale this year for £10 - well chuffed!!! Must admit I'm rather taken with those telescopic ladders ... might have to drop some hints to get one for my Christmas present this year!!! (lol)
nightrider Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 Tonight is my wifes birthday party and what a swell "do" it is going to be, and I am going to be partaking of my fair share of the vino now that I have had my operation, so I am expecting to be rather "kettled" by bedtime. Think I bought her an appropriate birthday present seeing as she is a proficient watercolour artist, I bought her a full length easel, a beautiful mahogany paint box complete with some lovely sable brushes and loads of watercolour paper, think she should be happy with that?
Brambles Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 So now your wife has no excuse not to paint the town red with her partying. My son's Birthday today as well but no painting the town red for him as 15 today. How time flies.
