I've downloaded and installed the above, neccesary for runnung video's of older music songs (as it says to do) on a Utube headed page

It keeps repeating, telling me to download ... In order to see and hear the video

Question ...do I have to register with Utube before I am able to see and hear the video??

No you don't have to register but you maybe experiencing similar problems to me.

Install Google Chrome and see if it will run through that. I have IE8 which doesn't seem to like Utube for some reason so I use Chrome.

Google Chrome was the answer thanks. Why do they keep messing about with the system?

Were you running IE8 when you couldn't get YouTube to open?

I have no idea What JE8 is,

The browser you use to access the internet (such as Google Chrome which you just installed).

IE is Internet Explorer which is a commonly used browser. The logo is easily recognisable by a blue letter 'e' (if 7 or 8 it will have a gold flash through it).

I suspect you have IE8 installed. To find out which version just open the browser, click 'help' on the toolbar, then 'about internet explorer'.....and that tells you which version you have.

When I ran IE6 and later 7 there was never a problem with YouTube until installing IE8....and that would not open it, but Chrome will as you have found.

Welcome to the batty world of computers where quite often upgrading software programmes to later versions ends up in a step back rather than forward! Older versions are often better but the 'powers that be' don't like people sticking with them as they want to maximise profits!

I find that most things work well with Mozilla Firefox which is a free download internet browser and is both safe and stable in use with regular updates.

I also find that Mozilla Thunderbird is much more user friendly than Windows Live for emails - although the older Outlook Express versions worked just fine for us - but not on Windows 7 for which all OE versions, it seems, are incompatible.

Gee thanks Microsoft - but I got my own back by not using Windows Live or Internet Explorer 8!

I have windows 7 and was told its different so I guess its a matter of adjusting.

It is a nuisance when having adjusted to one system, Windows 95 through 98 and Vista they introduce another and as tracker says its only to sell more products.

I dislike all the advertising so I’ve downloaded Chrome then removed it from the screen in order to use the classic page, much smoother.

Agree with you re. changes. I particularly detest meddling website designers constantly altering the layout of sites for no other reason than to replace it with a new one. Nothing wrong with the 'old'.....it just has to be changed which means you have to learn to navigate all over again. Not unlike Supermarkets who cause chaos when deciding to alter their floor layout.

I run XP which preceeded Vista. Vista was a Microsoft mega-blunder and will eventually disappear altogether.

An interesting curiosity about Vista which MS hoped would kill off XP. A few months after MS had brought Vista out, Dell contacted MS and told them they could not accept Vista software for computers being sold in the US market as their customers just did not like Vista so sales of Dell pc's in the USA were falling.

Dell demanded MS supplied them with XP and as they are one of their biggest customers, plus the US market has to be 'listened to', MS backed down and agreed to supply XP......but only for the US market.

New Dell pc's bought in this country at that time (pre Windows 7), continued to be supplied with Vista.
