Hi Everyone,

I need to know the difference in specification between an Autocruise Starburst 2007 and the Marquis version, the Starlet ll 2007 other than the graphics. Can anyone help please ?

We have a Marquis Autocruise Starspirit 2002. Excellent van. I think you can consider that "Marquis" means its just been "breathed on" with the Marquis stamp of extra quality. (ie the de-luxe/Ghia version).

Do you mean the current X250 based versions - if so I don't know but contacting Marquis and Swift might help?

You might try a Google search for each and see what adverts come up?

That said differences are likely to be minor and cosmetic - a bit like an Audi A3, VW Golf comparison I guess?

We have the older 2006 Boxer based Starlet and as far as I can tell the Starlet has a few more goodies as standard and different - but not always nicer - upholstery.

We like our van and won't be changing it in the forseeable future - unless something else we fancy comes along!

If I were buying again, as before, I would not worry which I went for as each individual van must be judged on it's own merits of price, kit, warranty, condition, trade in deal or whatever other aspect is important to you the buyer?

Thanks Tracker & Dave for your input. The reasons for my request are as follows. My Starlett ll was delivered in August 2007,X250 base-one of the last before Swift took over.I had problems with the spec of the "options"(sorted by Trading Standards).Local dealers think I have a Standard Starburst-Swift can not help and Marquis say "prove it".They will not examine the van or divulge the differences in spec.-hence my question.

Harry,

Like Tracker My Starburst/Starlet II is on the older chassis (2005) 55 plate, even between mine and Tracker's there are quite a few differances, mine :no alloy wheels, extractor over cooker, differant entrance door.and probably a few more things. Minor things I know. I still think that the 'Pre-swift' Autocruises are excellent vehicles, don't know much about the new ones apart from them being very expensive. Ray

These are adverts for the two motorhomes you've referred to:

There are significant specification differences between the advertised vehicles - for example, the Starburst is said to have a 100bhp motor and an Eberspacher diesel-fuelled heating system, while the Marquis Starlet 2 advertised has a 120bhp motor and Truma gas/electric heating.

However, I've no idea whether the higher-power motor and Truma heating (or the cab air-con or cruise-control) were standard on Starlet 2 and cost-options on Starburst, or cost-options on both models. It may even be the case that the two '2007' vehicles being advertised are actually from different model-years.

I believe the Starburst won a Caravan Club award in 2007, so a copy of the CC report might help you to establish that model's standard specification to allow you to make a comparison with your Starlet.

I assume you have the Marquis literature relating to a 2007 Starlet 2 (otherwise, I can't see how you'd know about your own motorhome's questionable specification), so it may be more productive trying to find someone with equivalent documentation for a 2007 Starburst (so that you can compare the two) rather than ask if anyone is aware of the exact differences.

Thanks Derek for your advice,I had already viewed the links you suggested - but thanks anyway. Having considered all the contributions I have come to the conclusion that I am on to a loser!! Whilst I have documentation to prove that the motorhome was not to the original spec., I can not prove whether it is a Starburst or Starlet ll. Now that all the bits (that we know of) seem to have stopped falling off (another long saga) I am going to continue enjoying our travels in our motorhome. As far as Marquis is concerned their salesman may have made a sale but he has lost a customer!!!! Thanks everybody.
